On entend peu parler de Punk Rock Allemand en ces pages, et pourtant il y a des artistes intéressants. De fait, on en profite pour échanger avec eux dès que l'occasion se présente, ici avec Blackout Problems !

Bonjour. Comment allez-vous ? Nous ne vous connaissons pas forcement en France, pouvez-vous présenter le groupe ? 

Bonjour, tout d'abord, merci beaucoup de nous accorder de votre temps ! Nous sommes Blackout Problems d'Allemagne. Nous aimons la musique forte qui nous permets de nous exprimer dans le monde actuel.

Quelles sont vos actualités en ce moment ?

Notre plus grosse actu est que nous sommes en tournée en France pour la première fois en mars. Nous ouvrons pour les Suédois Royal Republic. Nous sommes très impressionnés de jouer en France, parce que nous sommes de grands fans du pays et c'est toujours une expérience intéressante de découvrir quelque chose de nouveau.

Si vous deviez définir les problèmes d'obscurcissement en un mot, lequel serait-il? Et pourquoi ?

LOVE - Parce que ce groupe en est empli. Cela peut être la meilleure chose que vous faites, vos rêves peuvent devenir réalité, ou vous pouvez ouvrir la porte à l'enfer en ayant à faire face à des problèmes personnels qui vous retournent la tête. Mais en chantant à ces sujets, il y a une légère chance de les sortir de votre corps.

Votre discographie révèle beaucoup de singles. Quel format préférez-vous? Plutôt album, EP ou singles ?

Nous ne nous en soucions pas. La musique est la musique. Mais c'est génial de terminer un album.

Qu'est-ce qui vous a amené à la musique et ce désir de devenir musicien ?

Chacun d'entre nous vient d'un milieu différent, mais ce qui nous a réunis était le rêve de faire de la musique. Donc je suppose que ces rêves sont enracinés quelque part dans l'enfance de tout le monde.

Est-ce que le fait d'être quatre dans le groupe change la façon de composer? De plus, en général, comment se compose la composition des nouveaux titres ?

Faire ou simplement composer de la musique a changé dans la dernière année. Nous composions toujours ensemble dans une pièce et nous nous amusions avec des idées. Cette fois, nous avons pris un ordinateur et nous beaucoup composé, étape par étape, ce qui nous a donné de nouvelles options. J'aime vraiment écrire de nouvelles chansons. Nous faisons la musique ensemble et j'écris les paroles par la suite par moi-même.

Vous avez participé à la compilation Sea Sheperd Benefit. Comment es-tu venu participer à cet album ?

Nous soutenons Sea Sheperd depuis un bon moment maintenant. Quand ils nous ont demandé de le faire, c'était un honneur, politiquement et musicalement.

Dans une interview en 2016, vous avez également mentionné le commerce équitable pour les vêtements. En faisant le lien avec Sea Sheperd, je sens que vous êtes un groupe engagé. Est-ce que ces thèmes sont aussi ceux que vous voulez porter dans vos chansons ?

Totalement, mais nous ne sommes pas intéressés à dire aux gens quoi faire, quoi porter, quoi manger ou quoi penser. Nous voulons seulement dire aux gens de penser, d'être critiques et de remettre en question les choses. Notre dernier album Holy était assez simple et jetait un regard sur notre société et ce qui ne va pas. Nos nouveaux titres s'enfoncent plus profondément dans la partie psychologique de l'humain.

Vous partez en tournée dans quelques jours. Est-ce que vous appréhendez un peu ce moment ?

Nous sommes totalement heureux de faire à nouveau la tournée. Et cette fois, c'est la France que nous pouvons enfin ajouter à notre programme. Nous avons hâte de commencer !

Vous jouerez pour la première fois en France en mars. Connaissez-vous un peu le pays ?

Mais oui! Je comprends un peu francais et j'adore la langue =) ca va tres bien !

Il est parfois difficile de connaître la scène des pays pourtant ultra proche. Si nous voulions découvrir le Punk Rock allemand, quels artistes nous orienteriez-vous ?

Tout d'abord les bases : apprendre à connaître : Die Toten Hosen&Beatsteaks.
Si vous voulez creuser plus profondément dans les nouveaux groupes, vous devriez checker Smile&Burn, ils sont incroyables !

Vous avez sorti un titre avec Nathan Gray de Boysetsfire, "Boys Without A Home", sur Holy. Comment était la collaboration ? Aimeriez-vous avoir d'autres featurings ?

Travailler avec Nathan était amusant ! Il est venu au studio et nous avons eu une bonne conversation. Après que nous nous soyons rencontré, nous avons décidé de donner un coup de fouet au titre et il s'est avéré que cela allait très bien. Après le featuring avec Nathan, nous en avons fait un avec un artiste électronique allemand Christian Löffler. En ce moment, nous travaillons sur un tas de featurings. Mais je ne peux pas vous en dire plus =) Nous sommes excités ! C'est toujours génial de travailler avec différentes personnes. C'est inspirant !

Je trouve le titre "Off / On" un peu plus violent que votre Saint-opus. Est-ce vers ce son que vous vous orientez petit à petit?

En fait, nos nouvelles compos sont parfois violentes et parfois plus froides que l'ancienne. Dans l'ensemble, je dirais que c'est beaucoup plus désespéré et honnête. Vous devez l'écouter pour vraiment comprendre de quoi je parle.

Quels sont vos prochains projets ? Un nouvel album cette année ?

Oui ! Nous allons sortir un album. Le disque le plus honnête, brutal et personnel que nous ayons jamais fait.

Ma nouvelle question fétiche: si tu jouais un générique de dessin animé, que serait-ce ?

Aucun doute : Homer Simpson!

Hello. How are you ? We do not necessarily know Blackout Problems in France, can you introduce the group?

Hi, first of all, thank you very much for taking your time! We’re Blackout Problems from Germany. We love loud music that is all about expressing ourselves in the world today.

What are your news right now?

Our biggest news regarding the heritage of your magazine is that we’re touring France for the first time ever in march. We’re supporting the swedish band Royal Republic. We’re very stocked to be playing in France, because we’re pretty big fans of the country and it is always an interesting experience to get to know something new.

If you had to define Blackout Problems in a word, which one would it be? And why ?

LOVE - Because this band is all about it. It can be the best thing you’re doing, you’re dream coming true, or you can open the gate to hell by having to deal with personal issues that fuck up your head. But by singing about them, there’s a slight chance to get them out of your system.

Your discography reveals a lot of singles. Which format do you prefer? Rather album, EP or single?

Basically we don’t care. Music is music. But it is a great feeling to complete an album.

What brought you to music and that desire to become a musician?

Each and everyone of us comes from a different background but what brought us together was the dream of making music. So i guess that these dreams are rooted somewhere in the childhood of everyone.

Was being four in the band changing the way of composing? Moreover, in general, how is the composition of new titles?

Making or simply creating music change in the last year. We always wrote music together in a room and jammed around with ideas. This time we took a computer and did a lot of it piece by piece, which gave us new options. I really enjoy making new songs. We do the music together and i write the lyrics afterwards by myself.

You participated in the Sea Sheperd Benefit compilation. How did you come to participate in this album?

We’ve been supporting Sea Sheperd for quite some time now. When they asked us to do it, it was an honor, politically&musically.

In a 2016 interview, you also mentioned fair trade for clothing. By making the connection with Sea Sheperd, I feel that you are a committed group. Are these themes that you want to wear in your songs as well?

Totally, but we’re not interested in telling people what to do, what to wear, what to eat or what to think. We’re only interested in telling people to think, to be critical and to question things. Our last record „Holy“ was pretty straight forward and was taking a look on our society and what goes wrong. Our new stuff takes a look inside and digs deeper into the psycho-side of us as humans.

You go on tour in a few days. Do you apprehend a little this moment?

We’re totally happy to go on tour again. And this time it’s France that we can finally welcome to our tour schedule. We can’t wait to start!

You will play for the first time in France in March. Do you know a little about the country?

It is sometimes difficult to know the scene of countries yet ultra close. If we wanted to discover the German Punk Rock, which artists would you orientate us to?

You released a title with Nathan Gray of Boysetsfire, "Boys Without A Home," on Holy. How was the collaboration? Would you like to have other featurings?

Working with Nathan was fun! He came into the studio and we had a nice talk. After we connected we decided to give the song a shot and it turned out to fit pretty good. After the feature with Nathan, we did one with a german Electronic Artist Christian Löffler. At the moment we’re working on a bunch of features. But i can’t tell you more =) Get excited! It’s always great to work with different people. It’s inspiring!

I find the title "Off / On" a little more violent than your Holy opus. Is it towards this sound that you orient yourself little by little?

Actually our new stuff is sometimes violent and sometimes more chilled than the old stuff. All in all I’d say it’s a lot more desperate&honest. You have to listen to it to really understand what I’m talking about.

What are your next projects ? A new album this year?

Yes! We will release an album. The most honest, brutal&personal piece of music we’ve ever did.

My new fetish question: if you were to play a cartoon credits, what would it be?

No doubt: Homer Simpson!
